How I know the couple: I grew up dancing with the groom’s sister! Their family has been close to mine for many years.

Let me tell you, this wedding was scorching hot! Picture this: it’s the middle of June, and the heat is on. But nothing could dampen our spirits! My trusty assistant, Lauren, and I arrived at the venue ready to tackle our checklist. We added the final touches to the reception tables, iced down water bottles for the ceremony, and decked out the welcome table. Sweat was already starting to form, but we powered through.
We gathered the wedding party for a run-through of the ceremony, and boy, were we all sweating buckets! But hey, a little sweat never hurt anyone, right? While the party freshened up, I had the honor of facilitating the sweetest first look between the bride and groom. There’s something truly magical about those intimate moments.
After capturing some incredible shots of the wedding party, it was time to line up for the main event. Lauren and I took our positions, armed with water bottles, fans, face blotters, and tissues, ready to combat the heat and keep everyone cool and composed. Thankfully, the officiant kept the service short and sweet, true to Methodist fashion. As soon as the “I do’s” were exchanged, guests rushed back to the blessed air conditioning while the newlyweds posed for a few more family pictures.
Once the couple had recovered from the sweltering heat, it was time for their grand entrance, followed by their heartfelt first dances. The officiant said a beautiful prayer, and then it was time to dismiss the tables for the much-awaited feast. Lauren and I coordinated to ensure the bride and groom had drinks and food brought straight to their table, giving them a chance to savor each other’s company amidst the joyful chaos.
Let me take a moment to gush about the amazing vendor team we had the pleasure of working with. The photographers were a dynamic sister duo, capturing every precious moment flawlessly. The DJ was an absolute hype machine, keeping the energy levels soaring. The security guard was kind and vigilant, ensuring everyone’s safety. And the bartenders? They had personalities that could light up the room. It was truly a dream team!
We kicked off the toasts, followed by the eagerly anticipated cake cutting ceremony. And then, it was time to hit the dance floor! We brought out the glow sticks for the guests and even got the wedding party rocking disco cowboy hats. It was a party like no other—laughter, dancing, and pure joy filling the air.
Of course, no celebration is without a few obstacles. Some guests decided to sneak in their own liquor, but fear not! Our trusty security guard caught them in the act. We swiftly disposed of the mini bottles and had a stern conversation with the rule-breakers. Crisis averted, and no need to involve the police!
As the night winded down, Lauren and I enlisted the help of the maid of honor and best man to gather the couple’s belongings and pull the car around for the grand send-off. With sparklers lit and the couple off on their new adventure, our work for the night was done. We couldn’t have asked for a better team—the Pearsons and the Eppersons truly put together an incredible event.
Despite the sweltering heat, this wedding was a testament to love, resilience, and celebration. We danced, laughed, and created unforgettable memories. It was an honor to be a part of such a special day, and I’ll cherish the experience forever.
